Tariff Payment

Tourists can travel through Bhutan only through one of the Local Licensed Travel Agents approved by the Tourism Council of the Royal Government of Bhutan. The Royal Government of Bhutan sets the Minimum Selling Prices for the Tour Packages to Bhutan and this must be paid in advance in US Dollars. Only upon the receiving the Full Payment in Advance, the Royal Government of Bhutan approves the Tourist Visas.

The Royal Government of Bhutan will release the Tariff Payment deducting the Royalty and Taxes to the concerned Travel Agent Like us only after you (Guests) leave Bhutan. The payment you make shall be deposited in the Tourism Council of Bhutan’s Account with our Travel agent as the Ultimate Beneficiary. This policy has been developed by the Government to ensure safety and prevent fraudulent and scandalous financial acts by the Tour Operators. Hence, any tour payments made in Advance pertaining to your visit to Bhutan is 100% save as it is purely regulated by the Royal Government through the Tourism Council of Bhutan.

The following Daily Tariff is set and standardized by the Royal Government of Bhutan. If you pay less than the standard Tariff, it shall be deemed as crime and if found guilty, your travel agent is punishable by law. Hence, every tourist visiting Bhutan is advised not to avail tariff cheaper than the standardized tariff given below.

High Season Daily Tariff

High tourist season is Bhutan falls in: February, March; April, May; August, September; October, November and December.

The minimum high season tariff for more than 3 people travelling in group is mentioned below:

More Than Three People in Group: USD $250 per Person per Night.

The minimum Tariff Includes the Following:

  • Government Royalty.
  • Government Tax per Person per Night.
  • Accommodation in a Standard Tourist Hotel Approved by the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
  • All Meals.
  • Daily Mineral Water.
  • English Language Speaking Guide.
  • Comfortable and Luxurious Imported Cars for Internal Transportation with Experienced Driver.
  • Entrance fees for Museums.
  • Special Host Dinner.
  • Trekking Equipment and Haulage for Trekking Tours.
  • Porter and Pony Charges while on trekking.
  • Domestic Operator’s Commission.
  • Tourism Development fund of USD.

Low Tourist Season

The Low tourist season falls in: January, June and July.

The Minimum Low Season Tariff for the Group of more than Three People: USD $225/- per Person per Night.

The Minimum Low season Tariff Includes the Following:

  • Government Royalty
  • Government Tax per Person per Night.
  • Accommodation in a Standard Tourist Hotel Approved by the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
  • All Meals.
  • Daily Mineral Water.
  • English Language Speaking Guide.
  • Comfortable and Luxurious Imported Cars for Internal Transportation with Experienced Driver.
  • Entrance fees for Museums.
  • Special Host Dinner.
  • Trekking Equipments and Haulage for Trekking Tours.
  • Porter and Pony Charges while on trekking.
  • Domestic Operator’s Commission.
  • Tourism Development fund.
  • Surcharges

Individual tourists and smaller groups of less than three persons shall be subject to surcharge over and above the minimum daily rates applicable, as follows:

Single Individual: US$ 40 per night

Daily Tariff Including the Surcharge during High Season: USD $290/-

Daily Tariff Including the Surcharge during Low Season: USD $265/-

Single room surcharge of USD 15-20 if single room is required.

Group of 2 Persons: US$ 30 per Person per night

Daily Tariff Including the Surcharge during High Season: USD $280/-

Daily Tariff Including the Surcharge during the Low Season: USD $200/-

Single room surcharge of USD 15-20 if single room is required.

P.S: The 10% agency commission payable to agents abroad shall not be deductible from the surcharges. The surcharge will not be applicable to representatives of foreign travel agents on business study or promotional visit duly approved and cleared by TCB.

Our Discount Policy:

  • One free Person shall be given to the Group of more than 15 People travelling for the period of more than 8 Nights.
  • 50% Discount for one Person shall be given for the Group of more than 10 people travelling for a period of more than 8 Nights.
  • There shall be no charge for CHILDREN up to the age of 5 years. However, those between the ages of 6-12 years accompanied by elders/ guardians shall be given 50% discount on daily rates and 100% discount on Royalty.
  • Full time STUDENTS below the age of 25 years holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions shall also be given a 25% discount on daily rates.

NOTE: The discount given here are with regard to the Government’s Provision kept for the Travel Agents to promote more number of Visitors travelling for longer duration. Hence, the Discount given here does not contradict the Government’s policy on the Minimum Tariff Payment.

NOTE: The rates given above are applicable per tourist per night halt in Bhutan. On the day of departure, the ‘local agents’ host obligation shall be limited to breakfast only and any extra requirements shall be payable on actual basis.

The rates shall apply uniformly irrespective of locations and the type of accommodation provided/asked for. List of hotels and lodges approved for international tourist accommodation updated from time to time shall be issued by TCB.
